About

Dr. Courtney King, MD, is a medical doctor board certified in both family medicine and integrative medicine. She is an IFM Functional Medicine Practitioner and a medical acupuncturist and is also trained in Ayurvedic medicine. As an advocate for science-based natural and holistic treatments, she finds and addresses the root cause of your disease and personalizes a plan to get you on the path to your most vibrant health.
During medical school, she studied complementary and alternative medicine with Dr. Andrew Weil in Tucson, learned traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture in Beijing, worked with a shaman to understand deeper spiritual healing in the Sacred Valley of Peru, and in her off time did medical volunteer work in Africa throughout Ghana, Mali, Togo, and Benin…in addition to the traditional allopathic med school curriculum.
After med school, Dr. King completed training in medical acupuncture through the Helms Institute and a yearlong Ayurvedic practitioner course at the Dhyana Center before starting her family medicine residency in Fort Collins, CO.
There, she spent elective rotations working with integrative and functional doctors in the community and more time in Peru while treating patients in her traditional clinic. After residency, she and her family chose to settle down in beautiful Sonoma County, CA, where she accepted a job at a large medical group.
After 7 years of working as a family doctor in the current medical system, Dr. King became overly aware of the limitations that “conventional” medicine posed. Feeling frustrated with the hindering time constraints, limited lab testing, suffering patients with “normal range labs,” side effects from pharmaceutical medications, and not getting to really know many of her 1850 patients, she knew she had to make a change.
Courtney started Golden Road Integrative and Functional Medicine to create more meaningful patient relationships and to help people heal their roots, elevate their minds, and enjoy their lives!
After starting the practice in Santa Rosa, CA, Dr. Courtney and her family moved back to Fort Collins, CO and she grew her practice here as well. Being an Atlanta, GA native, Dr. King also sees patients in Georgia as well.
